Bernadette & Wayne Wedding Preview
There are days when I feel especially moved by the wedding that I shoot. The days I actually feel my heart skip a beat because I am so humbled by the privilege of what I am witnessing.
Yesterday was one of those days.
Leading up to the wedding, bad weather and the progressively shorter daylight were some of the things that nagged at the back of my mind. Little did I know that when the day came, I would be reminded that when the presence of love is so strong, everything else just does not seem that important anymore.
Many people think of a wedding as a celebration of two people who are about to commit their lives together. That is true, but that is not all of it. It is also a culmination of love between them and their families and friends.
From Bernadette’s enchanting wedding gown hand-made by her mother, the extremely moving candle-lighting ceremony to remember Wayne’s late father, and to their precious little girl standing with them at the altar – I witnessed so much love expressed in so many different ways. “Love is in the air” might sound really cheesy, but that was what I experienced all day yesterday.
It is easy to get distracted by the frills of a wedding day – the flowers, hair and make up, confetti, dinner and champagne, wedding favours, the fairy lights. But at the heart of it all, a wedding day is a celebration of love, and that resonated more strongly than ever on Wayne and Bernadette’s big day.
Wayne, you make a truly dashing groom and Bernadette, you have eyes that are windows to your heart. But what make the both of you truly memorable is the love that you and your friends and family have for one another, the love you have for your beautiful daughter, and ultimately, the love you have for each other. Thank you for letting me witness it all, and for the honour of portraying what I witnessed with these photographs.
